Vessels of Time

Vessels of Time is an ongoing body of work exploring a simple yet persistent question:

What still holds us?

The paintings begin with the image of a vessel, but gradually move beyond the object itself. What emerges are recurring circular forms that function as thresholds rather than containers. They may suggest openings, wells, traces, absences, memories, fields of attention, or places where meaning gathers and remains.

The vessel becomes a metaphor for continuity. Across cultures and centuries, it has served to carry, preserve, protect, and transmit. Yet in these works, the focus shifts from what is held to the act of holding itself.

Each painting approaches the same question from a different angle. The forms repeat, change, disappear, and return. They are not symbols with fixed meanings but structures through which time, memory, and presence become visible.
Created through a process of revealing rather than applying, the works emerge from layers of darkness. Light is uncovered gradually, allowing the image to surface as if it were already present within the material.

Vessels of Time is not a series about objects. It is an ongoing investigation into the structures that endure when everything else changes.
